i love late afternoon when i am making dinner, listening to ingrid michaelson, and he is doing his puzzles. both of us working side-by-side. lost in our own thoughts.

fiddleheads
fiddleheads are a delicious local treat. and there are only here for a short time, like maybe a month. my friend and native nutmegger, libby, introduced them to me a couple of years ago and now i stake out the local markets at the end of april/beginning of may looking for this rare treat. they taste like a mixture of asparagus and artichoke - two of my favorites. we made them for the first time this season the other night (and by we i mean sam), and they were as good i remember. if you're a local, check them out!

more sewing
i made this quilt a few weeks ago for a new little family member who lives all the way in portland oregon. he arrived on valentine's day, but had to wait a bit for his quilt to be completed. luckily he is very patient.
i love the kokka fabric on the back (from sew mama sew). i did wacky diagonal quilted lines on the bottom portion in brown.
as you can see the quilting is not perfectly straight, but it gives it a nice handmade look, which i tend to like more that i like pulling out crooked sewing.
